2021 CLAYTON DOWNTOWN DISTRICT REVITALIZATION GRANT
Thanks to Duke Energy's Hometown Revitalization Program, the Clayton Chamber Foundation was able to launch a $25,000 grant program in November of 2021.
The Clayton Chamber Foundation and the Clayton Chamber of Commerce created the Clayton Downtown District Revitalization Grant (CDDRG) funded by Duke Energy's Hometown Revitalization program. The CDDRG's purpose was to support small businesses (less than 50 employees) that were impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic to help small businesses recover or "pivot."
Each community, including Clayton, NC, was awarded $25,000 through a partnership with local 501(c)(3)-administering nonprofits. The administering entity established a small-business support microgrant program to deploy the funding within their local community. Microgrants ranged from $500 to $2,500 per individual business. "The Duke Energy Hometown Revitalization Grant program has come at the most opportune time for the businesses in downtown Clayton. The Clayton Chamber Foundation can now form an alliance with community partners, pick up the baton and continue to provide much-needed assistance to our beloved local businesses that are recovering and surviving the ongoing pandemic,” said Tony Brown, 2021 chairman, Clayton Chamber Foundation.
